    Hi,

The sidebars on my client’s site aren’t appearing all of a sudden. As far as I am aware the only changes have been updating to the latest WordPress (4.9.6) and some other plugin updates.

The sidebars in question are just testing for pages (using [or] conditions), and using the merge action targeting the main sidebar (which is appearing).

I’ve tried using the shortcode action and that works, but the other actions do not. I’ve also tried disabling a few plugins to no avail. Nothing in the console.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,
    Jacob

    Thank you for reporting this.

The latest update of WordPress should not be the issue, do you know if any other plugins were installed/updated recently?

Can you show me a screenshot of the conditions for the sidebar(s) in question? You can use imgur.com

I think the other updates were just GA plugin, Yoast and Wordfence. I’m going to try and problem solve it some more on a staging site to see if it’s anything related to the theme.

Thank you for the screenshot. The conditions look OK, but you can actually combine all the Pages into 1 condition which might make it easier to manage moving forward.

The mentioned plugins should not conflict with Content Aware Sidebars.

Is the default sidebar (the sidebar that the one in the screenshot merges with) displayed as expected? Or is that sidebar completely missing?

If the latter, it might be a setting in the theme that forces the layout to be full-width.

I’ve been checking out some php errors and a few trace to a plugin called Kirki Toolkit – I tried disabling it and the sidebar comes back again – so it appears to be triggered by the errors (something to do with an invalid argument). I’m going to get in touch with the author to try and resolve them. Let me know if you’d like a screenshot.

As an aside, you mentioned putting the pages into 1 condition – I’ve tried this a few times (over the last year) and it always saves just one page (the last one), with the others deleted upon revisit, which is why I have had to put them separately.

    Thanks for the help,

    Jacob
