Sidebars get messed with a plugin that adds sidebars

I don’t use this theme but got somebody who asks me for help with this theme. The problem he had turned out to be the sidebar IDs of this theme. This theme does not set sidebar ids, which cause troubles if you use a plugin that adds custom sidebars.
I posted a support request regarding this issue and got no response.
