Newbie here. * I just installed a theme, and I was trying to change a few things but I just can’t understand how this works… * First of all, please take a look at [http://www.fifarank.com](http://www.fifarank.com) * As you can see, there are 2 widgets, ‘pages’ and ‘archives’ between the posts and the left menu. * In the widget section, it says that sidebar 1 and sidebar 2 have zero widgets, and I checked, all widgets are disabled. * My question is, how can I move those 2 widgets so they stay in the right sidebar, down ‘categories’ or ‘blogroll’? I don’t know how to move them / make them dissapear! I would just like to move them to the left part, so the posting part is wider. * My other question is, what are sidebars? How can I know if a theme has 1 or 2 sidebars? * Thank you! It’s the standard sidebar display for that theme when widgets **aren’t** being used. Assuming that this is a widget- ready theme, if you add a widget to one of your sidebars, you’ll see that everything– other than the new widget – will disappear. * However, widgets won’t make a sidebar disappear. All they can do is change what is displayed in that sidebar. If you want to get rid of one of your sidebars, you need to either edit the theme or choose a new theme that only has 2 columns instead of 3. * Sidebars are columns within a theme that lie to one side of the main content. They are most commonly used to display various menus etc. although this does vary from theme to theme. Themes within the [Theme Directory](http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/) are usually identified as being “2-column’ or ‘3-column’. A 2-column theme usually has a main content area plus 1 sidebar. And which would be sidebar 1 and which sidebar 2? * For what you say, I guess that, If I really like this theme, but don’t want the second sidebar, my only possible path would be to edit the template and remove it, right? Is it hard? It’s currently set to a fixed width of 505px in your `style.css` file (under `#content .post .post-entry` around line 244).
