I have implemented a WP blog via my Yahoo hosting. I am very much a beginner. My intent of both my website and my blog is to have affiliate ads in key locations. It was a snap to do this on my website via Yahoo's Sitebuilder. However, I can't seem to find a way to do it on my blog. Everything I read says I need to upgrade to V2.3. I've tried 3 times over 3 separate weekends and failed miserably. I've seen the directions of the post that people are being directed to. The problem is that the process requires editing the blog files and reading the codex. I don't even know what a codex is! Am I stuck with 2.0.2 unless I can become more advanced? Or is there a widget sidebar plugin that will work with the basic version of WP that Yahoo provides?

Well, upgrading to 2.3.1 is what I have been trying to do for the last 3 weekends. Can someone tell me what the codex is and how I find it so I can read it. I feel so stupid. But, I really don't know what it is.

If I install WP 2.3 will I still be able to use the Yahoo Small Business website to access the blog editing and managing capabilities?

OK, I'm going to forget about upgrading. Instructions simply aren't written for the simple minded.
