    Hi,

This plugin used to work fine for me until someone wanted me to disable stickiness a couple years ago (so they can serve ads on the sidebars).

Now, I want to bring back the sticky functionality (so I have control of that part of my website again).

At first, I thought I just had to re-check the Fixed Widget checkbox in the Widgets control of the WP Backend, but I’m seeing that it’s not responding to it.

That said, the browser console looks like it’s properly inserting the widget “_clone” that I think q2w3 does when it’s enabled. However, functionally, it doesn’t seem to do the sticky behavior.

So, I was wondering if I can get help with the issue by at least telling me what might be the cause of the conflict or override.

I’m not sure if there was a code change that was made to the stylesheet or the theme that I have to go back and fix (I can’t find it).

Or if there’s something else going on.

But I’m hoping someone who knows what needs to happen for this plugin to work properly might tell me what’s getting in the way so I can better direct my troubleshooting efforts.

    Thanks

    Hi jtcheng

Thanks for your comprehensive description. Yes, you have a good understanding of how it works.

As long as I can see, there are some ads and related ads scripts within the sidebar that manipulate the content of the sidebar multiple times a second. I suppose that this interrupts the Fixed Widget Script.

I don’t know whether this helps, but you might try to disable the “mutation observer” via Appearance – Fixed Widget Options – Compatibility.

Besides this or changing the ad setup, I have no solution, I’m sorry.

    Kind regards, Odilo

    Hi Odilo,

Unfortunately, it didn’t work. But thanks for the suggestions.

I will pursue talking to the ad setup guys about this as I suspect they changed something in the code and I’ll need to know what that is so I can version control it.
