    adding a new style, for instance to custom.css, such as:

    #searchform #s { width:230px; }

    might work.

    please don’t remove suggested changes immediately because you think they don’t work – this will not allow to check what effect the suggested changes had on your site, why they don’t appear to work, and if there might be a different solution.

    it is possibly down to a browser cache holding on to the old styles – press ‘CTRL F5’ to clear the browser cache.
