When adjusting the width of a div you have to account for any extra margins the div has been assigned in style.css, and the widths of the parent divs that wrap around it. The main div is wrapped by a div with id=content. This width of this content div is set to 700px in style.css. The sidebar div is 270px wide and has a left margin of 40px for a total width of 310px. Since the main div is 700px wide and the sidebar div is 310px wide, you need to adjust the content div to be 1010px wide.
Thank you so much. It was just a matter of numbers. I couldn’t figure out where the problem could be.
Hoping someone can help me…I’ve already combed through the ‘sidebar moved’ support forums to see what everyone has said, as well as used several website validators – but still having a problem.
A few weeks back I tried installing a plugin that not only didn’t work, it reverted back many of the edits on my website. I have gotten mostly everything back to normal, but now my sidebar is at the bottom of my page. I’ve gone through almost every style sheet and checked the <div> closing tags, and everything looks correct. I’m sort of desperate for a quick resolution as this is my eportfolio that I use to job hunt, and it looks a little bad that I have this design flaw showing up.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
