Support » Fixing WordPress » Sidebar missing in Internet Explorer

  • I use Firefox to do all my internet browsing, so this issue only came up recently when a coworker brought the problem to my attention.

    For some reason, when my blog ( is being viewed in Internet Explorer, the sidebar is missing. But when you go to any other page on the blog (for example, the index page at, the sidebar suddenly reappears.

    Does anyone have any insights into why this is happening, and how I can fix the problem? Thanks!

  • Also, the subpages for each individual blog post do display the sidebar. It’s only the main blog page where the sidebar is missing.

    You seem to have copy and pasted some content from Word into the visual editor and as a result one of your post as this in:

    <p><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:PunctuationKerning /> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas /> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables /> <w:SnapToGridInCell /> <w:WrapTextWithPunct /> <w:UseAsianBreakRules /> <w:DontGrowAutofit /> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if !mso]><span class="mceItemObject"   classid="clsid:38481807-CA0E-42D2-BF39-B33AF135CC4D" id=ieooui></span><br />
    <mce:style><!  st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } --></p>

    If you remove all this garbage and clean up your blog post, your sidebar will reappear.

    First try to change the theme and have a check..if it remains same then check the posts for word document code which can be added if you copy and paste post from wordpress and remove that code..
