I’m using the Fastrack theme. When attempting to use any of my sidebar links – category, pages, archives – I get the following an error page:

    Not Found
The requested URL /monk/ /category/uncategorized/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

If anyone could lead me in the right direction causing the problem I’d appreciate it. Thanks!

  • It’s not related to the theme. It’s because of the “nice” permalinks settings.
Is mod_rewrite enabled on your server?
Is your .htaccess file writable when you update your permalink structure?
Is your permalink structure using the correct tags and slashes in the proper places?
(btw, is the error message you quoted above the “exact” way it’s displyaed or did you change anything when you pasted here?)

Thanks, moshu. You’re right about the permalinks, because all my problems began after I attempted to change the permalinks. Where can I best learn about proper permalink structure and the other items you mentioned? And yes, that’s exactly how the error message posted. The // between monk and category isn’t right is it? Thanks for the help from this newbie.

The Codex is always a good place to start with – it’s the online manual for WP.
    This page explains the permalinks:
But I’s also advice to read very carefully the Options > Permalinks panel in your admin part and use the slashes only where it is shown in the examples.

Thanks again moshu, greatly appreciate the tips.
