Sorry, I’ve searched the sidebar Qs and related in the forum, and I know this is a common Q, but I have found no answers to my particular problem. Yet. The search continues amidst pleading for help.

I reduced the images right away but it still hasn’t fixed my sidebar and I’ve done no mucking about with div widths although I can see my text seems to extend beyond its usual borders. I don’t know enough to go editing my template to randomly try to fix the problem. (Obviously. Someone, please help the answer bite me in the @ss.) The problems seem to coincide with the 2.5 upgrade.

(also, oddly, the background of the cute lil image beside the “posted in” is now white instead of matching the blog background as it is meant to.)

The template is straight Ocadia and the url if you’d like to look is
    http://lanasdelibelula.com/blog

Thanks so much for any help. Sorry to be (unwillingly) beating a dead horse.

you got a theme issue, I´ll try to figure it out from here and let you know.

You can also check if you didn’t forget to </div> somewhere, usually in the header.

I’m not sure how that could be. I’ve only been using the wysiwyg editor, no hand coding fancy schmanciness, and I haven’t done any editing of the template.

A couple other things–I changed templates in case it was some weird vulnerability of this particular template and they were all like that. SO I’d think it would have to be something I did or put in that made a difference. But I didn’t do anything differently that I know of. Also, when I visit a single post, a page with comments of that specific post, the sidebar is there. So I have no idea and hope that info helps track the source of the wonkiness down.

The validator has a couple of unclosed div’s (and a lot of other errors). It could be something in a post (usually not), but try working on the errors to start with.

    visual editor you say?

pasting your posts from something like MS Word?

I use the regular old “Write post” default editor right there from the dashboard, no code, just the shortcuts provided in the editor. I have to admit it does drive me crazy sometimes, just gobbling up my formatting and squishing things together randomly. Not so WYSIWYG.
So everything that is in there is supposed to be from machines making the markup or whatever, so I can look forward to more of this in the future?

It doesn’t look like the new 2.5 really lets you get into the html editing like the old version I had did. Because when I click on the html to edit those errors the validator picked up, I can’t see them, just the img insert code. And the validator is saying those are wrong, showing that I should have a close tag right after the img tag, so does this new form not support flickr’s generated code?

Ugh, thank you all for looking. I appreciate all the help, I’m not sure how to get in there and fix all the errors that the validator is showing.

Do others use a different editor for writing posts in? Is there a way I can get in there and fix these errors? A way I can keep this from being a perpetual issue?

    Thank you,
    Wendy

Don’t use the visual editor. That’s the best way to keep your code like you want it.

I think it may be in your “Hello Random” post. At the end of your article, you have Doh!. In front of it there are three paragraph elements unclosed, after there are two of these:
    <div align="center" />

I don’t know if a div can be closed in this way (I’ll be finding out). You might want to get in there with the HTML editor and take these out anyway.

Well, holy cr@p mechx1 you fixed it! That stupid little thing was it and I don’t even know how it happened ‘cuz I didn’t put it in there, but that was it; I was able to take it out, and it all looks as it should!

In the words of my people: “DuUUUde, you totally rock!”

    Thank you so much!

Thank you all so much for taking the time to look this over (oh, boy I wished my posts were more interesting, I’ve got to start hang gliding or rattlesnake wrangling or something) and give me tips on how to troubleshoot and figure out what’s wrong and how to fix it and prevent it in the future.

    I really really appreciate it!
