I want to change from a blog to a static homepage, but when I do that I lose the sidebar on all pages, including the new home page, except for the page I have put the blog on.
I am using the 2011 theme. Any thoughts please?

Thank you Robin. I had a look at the link, but I'm afraid it is beyond me. It does however imply that this is a known problem with the 2011 theme, so maybe I could change the theme - though that might bring another set of problems!

Yes, try twentyten, this has sidebars and I use it on a couple of sites.

Hi alchymyth, this was mentioned in the link that Robin gave me. I didn't think I would be able to do it by myself, but I have a friend who is willing to give it a go, so thank you!

I updated a link on one of the access points on one of my sidebars and the whole sidebar then disappeared. I had a look in widgets editor and those that had disappeared were in the inactive area. I looked at the forum for an answer one said, go to editor which said "dashboard - appearance - editor: style.css is usually already selected; if not, select from the list on the right" and then the links and data which made up the sidebar has completely disappeared from both the active and inactive boxes. Any answer for me please?
