Sidebar at bottom in IE7 but not IE8, Firefox, Chrome..

    Unfortunately for some reason in IE7 my sidebar is sliding down to the bottom of the page; this doesn’t happen in IE8 or the latest Firefox.

    I’m not the best CSS coder in the world so I’m sure I’ve hacked something up along the way. I’m just re-tooling the default theme.

    If anyone has any ideas I’d be grateful.

    Validate your HTML code before looking to CSS for problems. You have a number of unclosed <div> tags, which would account for the display discrepency. http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Ftemp.mjmbooks.com%2Fblog%2F

    Thanks Steve,

    Just updated the html code and the page now validates properly… unfortunately the sidebar issue remains.

    Any other thoughts?

    Bump for great justice…

    So I also added a 1px border around the sidebar and the column… doesn’t look like they are overlapping so I don’t think it’s a width issue.

    Anyone else have any ideas as to what could cause the sidebar to drop to the bottom in IE7 only?

    Please do not post your css. We can find it with your link.

    Your narrow column content is too wide and overlaps your sidebar. You can see this is you have FF and Firebug or IE8 using tools.

    Ah.. sorry about the css post… didn’t think about that…

    kmessinger: I saw where the #contentBlock was overlapping so I shrunk that down and it no longer overlaps… still getting the same result. Was there something else that you noticed? It didn’t seem like the narrow column stuff was out of whack but I could be missing something?

    It looks ok to me in IE7 and 8. Perhaps you need to clear your cache?

    I’m having the same problem, but it looks like yours has that problem in the latest version of firefox as well, so i don’t think it’s an IE7 problem…
