    Hi,

Brilliant plugin, vastly better than other arcane offerings – but baffling issue when trying latest version:

Installed and functioned fine on one site (WP 5.0.17) perfectly.
But on another site (WP 5.9.3):
    · Installs and activates OK, but no quotes appear in sidebar or using shortcode.
    · 55 quotes appear in the setup tabs
    · But cannot add a quote manually [An error occurred in the MySQL query]
    · Cannot import quotes .CSV file [Import failed]
    · Previous (very old) version worked fine but concerned about possible security issues.

    > Have done database clean.
    > Have disabled all other plugins
    > Have tried updating over the top of old version – nothing appears in sidebar box at all.
    > Have tried several different themes – not theme related.
    > PHP ver on both sites is 7.4

    Any clues anyone?
    TIA

The MySQL error is returning on a failure to insert a record to the table. The “Import failed. Please try again.” error is also on a failure to insert records to the table. Could possibly be rights related. If upgrading from version 0.7 or older, it needs to create new fields within the database table. Verify the table has these 3 new fields (“title_name”, “source_icon”, and “author_icon”).

This is my first thought about it and will get back to you when I have more ideas of what to try. Let me know.

    Thanks oooorgle, Stellar support.

Looks like table remained after uninstalling old version.
Dropped manually and did fresh install >> all good.
    · Tweaked css to reduce blank space above quote.
    · Manually adding quotes and importing a [ ; ] delimited CSV file all work flawlessly.
    · Haven’t hammered it for all possible security angles yet.

p.s. From past experience, a quotes box increases site visit time (and bookmarking) for certain types of visitors and site genres.
I spent hours testing other quotes plugins – all either failed to fire up or had some horrible defect, including the quotes feed being on a remote site.

If adding quotations to a site, don’t dilly around, Quotes Llama is the one to have.

p.s. Happy to send a capuccino your way – couldn’t see a PayPal icon on the row of payment options but persevered. (IMHO, PayPal gives a bit more security than CC’s.)

Great to hear that’s what it was. The donate link is a PayPal link. Click the donate icon and it will take you to the PayPal page. https://oooorgle.com/plugins/wp/quotes-llama/

Also the plugin could certainly be boosted in the community by a positive review 😉 Glad you enjoy it and thanks for the support!

Same problem here. Could not fix it I tried to reimport all my quotes but it didn’t work.

Hi Michael, could possibly be rights related. If upgrading from version 0.7 or older, it needs to create new fields within the database table. Verify the table has these 3 new fields (“title_name”, “source_icon”, and “author_icon”) and let me know.

Hello, same problem, quotes didnt display sice an automatic update from wordpress or quote llama, i dont know. I did all what you said, uninstall, reinstall, etc, etc.

Quotes are in sql tab but no display on wordpress.

I saw something strange, 9 requests but only 8 columns in sql.

Category column was missing in sql.

I just add a column named category (saw this name in plugin editor in php pages)

No more sql errors, quotes display now

All solved, i think it’s the problem for all and this is the solution

    Bye 🙂
