Showing the summary of a post (help needed)

  • I searched this extensively on the forum but using the quicktag <!–more–> is unfeasible for someone who already has many posts, and I can’t seem to be able to change my theme’s index.php Template to use the Template Tag, the_excerpt(), instead of the_content() – I don’t really know how to, but it also may just not have this option (I have switched to using the theme Sixteen). Are there any other options?? Many thanks.

  • You should create a Child theme to make your changes. If you do not, all of your changes will be lost if you update your theme.

Calls to the_content() in that theme are located in 4 files:

    • content.php
    • content-single.php
    • content-page.php
    • image.php
