When looking at comments posted with the wpDiscuz plug-in, if on my site any visitor hovers their cursor over the icons where it reads ‘Recent comment authors’, it shows the posters email address.

Is there a way of changing this so it just shows their name rather than their username/e-mail address ?

    Thanks in advance

I have enabled the following option in the settings for wpDiscuz which prevents that section being displayed.

    “Hide “Recent Comment Authors” section”

I’m still interested in knowing though if there is a way to use that but not show the username/e-mail address, maybe another WordPress field such as ‘Name’ instead ?

    Thanks

    Hi djb2002,

Could you please leave your website URL? We need to check it.

Is there a way of me sending it to you without posting (for obvious reasons) ?

At the moment it doesn’t show because I have hidden the ‘Recent Comment Authors’ section.

    Thanks

I have this same problem. I’ve imported my blog content and comments from Squarespace to WordPress.org. I’ve tried 3 different themes, all of which display the comments email address instead of their name in the blog post comment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

They looked at mine and said they were unable to duplicate it when testing, so it is useful to hear that it isn’t just me.

Hopefully they will come out with a fix.

Djb2002 can you remove the “resolved” tag to this forum. Otherwise they might not review it.

    @carlhere,
This is a result of incorrect comment migration. Emails were migrated to Comment Author Name field in database tables. So your database data stores Emails and Names in wrong fields. Please deactivate wpDiscuz and check it on native WordPress comment system. if you see emails as names then you should do custom SQL manipulation in database to correct information in wp_comments and in wp_users tables.

I have already tried deactivating all plugins. No joy.

Thank you @gvectors-team that’s the best explanation with some direction going forward. Although I’m not well versed in SQL I’ll try to get some help elsewhere that.

    Cheers
