Showing part of the post on index page

  • Can anybody help me set that only part of the whole post shows on the first (index) page? For example, I need only 15 words of the post and link that will show whole article when clicked. Is this possible?
    Thanks.

  • Try excerpt_reloaded. Google will find it for ya.

You could also add the <!--more--> code in the place you want to break the post (found in the post editor) Clicking on the post link will show the whole post.

There are other options also. I suspect you will find many more solutions, one of which will best meet your needs, by poking around here and looking at many of the threads on this subject. I use a conditional to show the_excerpt on some pages. What you choose will depend in part on how your site is set up in the first place.
