• I’ve been toying with this design off and on for the last few months, but was finally able to suss out the CSS probs this weekend with the help of some lovely peeps here (via Google even! hehe).

    TADA! http://www.nitallica.org/

It’s WordPress driven. It’s Firefox friendly. Hehe, in fact it was so anti-IE that I ended up having to setup some code to use an alternate CSS if the browser was detected as IE. (and they get a nice msg at the top of the page. *g*)

    Comments? Criticisms? Bribes?

Working on it, guys. (waiting on my tax refund so I can snag a new monitor — designing on an old crappy 17″ monstrosity from the Atari days :P)

    Thanks 😀

    Nitallica: You’re a hero(in?)! 😉

Ok, I think I got it ironed out. 🙂

All the iddy-biddy images to the upper left need to go. Why? Have a read of Vincent Flanders site. He explains it better than I can.

Apart from them, I like it.

Very nice! Good job on it. =D But I’m afraid I have to agree with IIIIIIIV about all them little images. It kind of throws the whole “niceness” of it off.. =/ Doesn’t really help it any.. But other then that..again..great job! =)

While I agree with that article, I prefer a small portion of images to a long-assed list of links. (those are fed from my Links Manager)

Personally, I hate Blogrolls that scroll down for 3 miles. 😛

But thank you for your honest input. 🙂

Hahaha…I know what you mean about that LoL! Can’t blame ya on that one lol.

But thank you for your honest input. 🙂

While I still think it’s a very nice layout, I’d have to say, you’re welcome.. =D

After further reading, I’ve been thinking about this and the more I think on it the more I can’t help but be offended by the reference.

I don’t see how my links output could be consider MMN because I download the favicon.ico files (if available) for the site/software/service (or design one if not avail.) and link to the site. I don’t use js roll overs or hide the target URL.

Is it just annoying because it’s a bunch of images grouped together?

Which offending reference are you talking about Nitallica? Mine and IIIIIIIV’s replies on the images, or that guy’s site that he linked in here?

I wasn’t trying to be offensive about it, I was just merely saying it kind of didn’t fit the theme..but really, it’s not that bad actually. =(

No, it’s fine if you guys don’t like images output from the link manager. I know a lot of WP users can’t stand that, but it’s my thing. 🙂

What got me was that IIIIIIIV wanted me to reference Vincent Flanders site to see what he didn’t care for in my design. That is what is gnawing at me.

It’s not so much that someone doesn’t like my design, it’s the “comparison that isn’t”. (if that makes sense)

Maybe I’m not understanding IIIIIIIV’s comment? Or maybe he/she didn’t fully understand the concept of MMN? Because I’m pretty sure I got it … and that’s not what’s on my site.

I get that not everyone will like my site … but I like it, and it’s mine. 🙂

Again, I appreciate honest input. I prefer criticisms by constructive, and applicable.

I wouldn’t worry about anything. =) You and everyone else know’s that you’re a respectable person, and wouldn’t have such stuff as mentioned at that guy’s site to begin with.

I’m “thinking” rather..that he was merely pointing out the little images, or images in general, are being used in a bad way, most of the time by “non-legit” peoples, for hiding links, to ads, paid stuff and such.

And again, you know that you’re not that type of a person, and I know that you’re not. =) So again, I wouldn’t worry about it.. 😉

hehe, thank you spencerp. It’s cool. My inner obsessive compulsive imp was just having a fit and tearing its hair out going “WHAT!?!?!? What do they see that I don’t?!”

    LOL

    🙂

Haha..I don’t blame ya for that either lol! It’s really only expected, especially if one person out of the whole bunch, slaps something like that in your face, without much, if any, explaination from themself..and then you have to rely on “someone else’s” explaination..for a “point”…or something.. sigh. =(

Actually, visting your page again, and again, those images don’t look bad at all..and most of those links or blog/sites, I have been to myself lol. =)

Also, I’m still checking in from time to time on the Now Were Cooking blog, so please keep those Baked Spaghetti Recipes coming LoL!

wow, spencer, i like that now we’re cooking site, got it bookmarked.

back to the site–nita: nice lovely site and it all fits together, i have the sense of being invited into your world

i agree it’s a bit wide, but that’s just me…my browser window is set to about 910 pixels wide on my powerbook and that takes care of most sites. but it’s just a personal preference for me to not make a browser window fit completely into my 1280 x 854 screen on the laptop. it’s a different story on my desktop which has twin 23″ monitors and i use one monitor to show two full web pages at once.

nice overall feel for you place…thanks for sharing
