This is a great plugin, I was just wondering if there are any simple solutions to this problem.

I help run a news blog, and the stories are guarded behind a pay-wall. I use Groups to prevent non-premium users viewing these stories.

I have noticed that non-premium / logged out users are also prevented from seeing even the preview content for these stories on the front page.

Is there a way of allowing non-premium / logged out users to see some aspects of a post only available to premium users, so that the front page is no longer empty?

Thank you for any assistance you can offer with this.

  • Hi Michael,

In case this is still not resolved, you can change the way your content is restricted. Instead of restricting a whole post, you can choose to keep the post public and after ie the first paragraph, restrict the rest of the content with this block of shortcodes:

The public content of the article should appear here.
    [groups_member group=”Premium”]
The rest of the article can be here.

    Kind regards,

FYI as of Groups 2.8.0 you can also use blocks to guard the rest of the post below your teaser content. Look for the Groups blocks section and you have Groups Member and Groups Non-member blocks where you can restrict the visibility of the content of the block to chosen groups.
