Support » Theme: Twenty Thirteen » Show widget in right sidebar on posts page

  • Resolved wpfan1000

    I don’t know the official name of this page, but I mean the page that shows all latest posts, in order.

    This page does not show widgets put in the right side bar.

    Is this intentional? Is there a way to display widgets?

  • I don’t know the official name of this page,

    A good way to find out the file is this plugin:

    Then look at that template and see if the sidebar is called. If not, you could make a custom template and add it.

    Hi WPyogi,

    Thanks for your response.

    Great minds think alike 🙂 because while you were posting I did try and find which template file it is.

    It is the standard index.php template file and it does have

    <?php get_sidebar(); ?>

    in it, yet the sidebar does not show.

    I am baffled as to why.

    I for example modified the page.php template file in my child theme and it has

    <?php get_sidebar(); ?>

    and the sidebar does show.

    Any further help would be appreciated.

    Ok, I found the problem.

    I was using only one widget in the sidebar. The widget is the Related posts YARPP plugin.

    Once I added core widgets such as Recent posts, etc, they did show up.

    So it seems to be an issue with the YARPP plugin.

    Will post there.

    Thanks again WPyogi for your time and assistance in helping me determine it was not the template.

    Ah, I realized after – could this be because the posts page has multiple posts in it and so the plugin would not know which post to show related posts for.

    So the issue is likely not with the theme, nor the plugin, but with moi 🙂

    LOL – well, good job tracking it down :)!
