First, hello to the community of this wonderful software 🙂 I’m using WP 1.0.1 a few days already and set up my Weblog, which works absolutely fine.
Now I’m trying to use WP as a CMS for a little site and i have a little trouble regarding the categories and the possible variables. Maybe my english just isn’t well enough to understand.
Anyway, I’d like to display specific categories only, I’ll show it via text for better understanding:
    – Cat 1
    – Cat2
    – Cat3
    – Cat4
    – Cat5
    HEADER 3
    – Cat6
Is it possible to do this with the list_cat variables or is there any other way?
Thanks a lot for you help.
P.S.: I searched the Forum / Wiki already, maybe the topic has been cleared up already??

  • Quick question: Are you talking about displaying posting categories, or link categories.

About the display of posting categories trough list_cat! Sorry…

Well one quick question, do you want to do this automagically, or would you mind hard-coding it? I am not sure if there would be a way to do that with a built in funtion that would be easier than just hard-coding the cat paths honestly.
If you would like to hard-code I can show you the best way to do that. I guess someone could write a hack that allows you to add categories to other categories, as confusing as that would be.
    Hmm.. interesting.

You could do that, but it would require a lot of function calls, one for each category.

Ok thanks a lot. I think it’s a better idea to hard code them into the Template file then…
