    Hi Daniel,
Mate this is a great plugin, but I have a small problem with it. I’ve done a bit of research and I’m not sure how to solve this problem.

I have a custom post type called “vehicle”

These posts are essentially vehicle profile pages.

    For eg

    1965 XP Ford Falcon Coupe

When creating a vehicle profile page, I might set the categories as follows

    FORD
    FALCON
    XP (parent category)

When I do this, and I enable related posts, I’m seeing ALL vehicles listed under FALCON, and NOT just XP.

Is there a way to show related categories on PARENT categories only?

What do you mean with “…enable related posts …”?
    Which option do you mean?

    Hi Daniel,
Sorry, I meant same category posts. The widget in the sidebar.

I’m seeing all vehicles listed under FALCON and not just XP.

I’m just testing here on localhost, and have a vehicle assigned to

    – FORD
    — FALCON
    —- XP

And for some reason the plugin is using FALCON as the same category. The parent category is XP

This might help you understand my issue.

This vehicle is assigned to XP as the parent category.

Yet when I view this vehicle, i see vehicles listed under FORD AND FALCON AND XP.

    Understand?

I guess what Im trying to say (apologies if Ive confused you) is that I would like an option to only show the parent category.

A suggested solution for you is to define your own category and assign contributions to be summarized. Then by “Exclude” option to exclude other categories.

I understand what you want but it is a very special wish. I would call it “customer task”.

At the moment the widget shows all categories which assigned to one post, if child, parent or sibling.

Really, thats why I talk about “customer feature”, do you need to show only from the “same” category or show from the same and the parent cateory … ? 😉

    Daniel,
For this, I would only like to show the parent category.

For anything else, I will use a second widget beneath that and show everything else.

I need to show model specific cars only.

I would be happy to pay you for this.

    Daniel,
It looks like I have it working!

Seems it was right in front of me the whole time.

I just had to untick Ford and Falcon. WordPress is still smart enough to carry those categories within the breadcrumb, and in the category URl so its all good.

Stupidly I was thinking that it would drop both unless I selected Ford and Falcon.

So its all good. Thank you.

    I am glad.

We are also very grateful to you, about a 5-star rating.
