Each Show Page displays partial content & a ‘Show More’ button.

Is it possible to show all page content by default?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Thanks for your question.

This is a subjective issue. We found that a lot of stations are throwing embeddable content or images into the Show Description, which really should be text only. And, we found when they do that, it does not elegantly wrap around the Show meta data. We also found that when stations use this field they end up putting a lot of text the description and that pushes the Posts and Hosts tabs further down the page, so the reader may not scroll and see those features.

To be frank, I really hesitate to allow the Read More to be disabled, because if we do that and allow everyone to just throw whatever they want into a Show description, it makes it seem like it’s our plugins fault that the content is messy and not able to be aligned correctly, even though it’s not our fault.

A Show description really shouldn’t be 10,000 words anyway and I just don’t see why it’s necessary. We want to make our plugin work in an elegant and user-friendly manner and requiring the user to scroll down the page just to get to the tabs for Posts, Hosts, and Playlists just doesn’t seem logical.

If you really have a good use case for eliminating the read more button, I’d like to hear it, but until someone convinces me otherwise, it’s going to stay in place unless we reconfigure the layout so that all the show meta is at the top and the width of the page and then the tabs are below and immediately after. We’d have to provide a new layout switcher template for that because too many site owners might not like that change, so it would be something you might switch to. I don’t know…it’s not on the roadmap but it’s something to think about.

    Hi Tony,

    Thanks for your consideration.

Up to you. As a User, I see a need. Suggest it default to what you have currently, but allow the User to override the default setting & allow Show All by default when the page loads. My use case includes a list of past shows for on-demand catchup (quite normal for radio), which Visitors won’t know about if they can’t see them. It’s not obvious & they are likely to not realize that there is valuable content currently not displayed.

    Thanks, Rod

So sorry for the delayed reply. You can upgrade to PRO. We added Episodes. So now, instead of adding past shows to your Description content, you can add each Episode individually and list them under the Episodes tab on the Show page. There are other advantages to using PRO and the monthly and annual rates are pretty inexpensive in this world of WordPress plugins. So, I’d recommend looking at that, because we’re not going to change how it functions now. Your use case is specific to your use of the plugin and not something a wide number of users is asking for. If you’re interested in upgrading, contact me directly at tonyzeoli [at] netmix.com and I’ll work with you on a coupon code.
