• Hello WordPress people!

On my Homepage I would like to show the first post with full text and older posts as headlines only.. Is there a plugin that can control this for me?

If one was to write a custom plug for something like this, how would on go about it? Ideally I would like to have a JS based ‘more’ dropdown below every headline.

    Thanks for time!

  • I accomplished this by calling a second loop, as well as by using a loop counter (2 different ways.)

here’s a post with links which solved the former issue, and maybe yours too.

Thank you dss. I am not much of a programmer but do understand the idea behind the loop.

I was hoping someone has a plugin for this, but thats alright, Might just be time for me dive into wordpress.

    Hello,

This is exactly what I would like to do at http://www.mainecoastimages.com but I need the simple version. I assume I insert his code into a page. Which page and where? I am using the Chaotic Soul template and believe it’s set for 10 posts. I would like all ten posts to be the headlines with the exception of full text on the latest. Where do I edit the loop to accomplish this?

    Thanks,

    Bill Edmunds

I figured this out a month ago but now I am confused as to where to place this code. Can anyone send me a diagram?

I can see this will be one of those forums where you post a question and then figure it out yourself. I don’t believe I ever gotten an answer to any post. I apologize for not being in the same league as the able coders here, but give us newbies a break once in a while.
