I regularly write postings (comments) to/under wordpress articles.

Is there a way for me (i.e. the postings’ author, not the article’s author) to show me all the postings I have ever written ?

When you write postings in an Internet forum, normally you can click on your username or go to your control panel to see a list of your postings. But where is this function for my wordpress comments/postings I write (as a visitor to wordpress articles) ?

    Many thanks

I cannot comment on *anything* on wordpress.com. If you have questions about it, you need to talk to them.

WRT #4, it would depend on how that WordPress site is set up.

ad 2) The question’s intended emphasis was on WP .org: “this is currently not possible for wordpress.org comments ?”. As I said, I tried to confirm if I understood correctly. Your previous comments suggest (to me) that the answer is NO, correct?

ad 4) “it would depend on how that WordPress site is set up” ok, what can I do as a WP comment author to find out if I a WP site lets me see all my comments made there?
(I posted on various WP sites, but I am mainly interested in retrieving my comments on jeffwise.net)

For question 2 – That is correct. There is no built-in way for you to see every comment on a site. Some sites may have extra functionalty built in to allow that, but it’s not something in core.

For question 4 – Check that site. It is really all that can be done. If it isn’t there, then it’s not there and there’s nothing that you can do about it. If you really feel that strongly I’d suggest contacting the sites support team (or webmaster or who ever) and ask them as it’s their site, and they are the only ones that can actually get that sort of information for you.

thank you both for your kind help

One final question please. And I am trying to give the answer to myself (to spare you the work) based on what I have learned from your explanations here:

There are 3 possible statuses for WP site visitors (i.e. WP comment authors):

    • 1) user is unlisted: first-time comment awaits approval, user is then whitelisted
    • 2) user is on whitelist: comments are auto-confirmed
    • 3) user is on blacklist (banned): comments are auto-discarded (without error-notification, so 1 and 3 look the same to a user)

Question: Can the user check his current status ?

My guess for an answer: NO, it’s the same situation as with the user’s comments discussed above. The user does not have any means of obtaining this information. If exists at all, it would be provided by a plugin or some other extra functionality built into a site, but certainly not built into the core, so it’s not something you could provide information about.

    Correct ?

No, users cannot check their status. Users are’t actually given a status – that’s done on a comment-by-comment basis. I think the only setting is to auto-allow comments from users that have had approved ocmments in the past, but there’s no user white or blacklist that’s set up. Under most circumstances any sort of checking is done for the amount of links or blacklisted/monitored keywords in the post. Of course, Akismet works a little differently as it’sa 3rd party external service, but then you’d need to ask them about how their systems work internally.

    Ok, understood.
Thank you both for having guided me kindly through my first steps here. I am very obliged.

I will mark this thread as “resolved”.
(Actually the problem is unsolvable unfortunately, but as there is no “wontfix”, I think “resolved” is the envisaged status for this thread, since all questions are answered ?)
    .

I think the only setting is to auto-allow comments from users that have had approved comments in the past, but there’s no user white or blacklist that’s set up.

That’s what I meant by whitelist.

The admin of the site I mentioned sometimes announced a ban of a user (hence me thinking there is a blacklist of banned users), but maybe this only means that the user gets removed from the whitelist.
