Support » Plugin: Aquila Admin Theme » Show Adminbar links

  • Love the way Aquila Admin Theme makes my admin area look, which makes it easier to work in!

    I have selected “Show Adminbar links” because it gives me easy access to clearing my site’s cache via my caching and Autoptimze plugins.

    But Aquila also crowds the admin bar with options I do not need: plugin updates, comments, Analytify, UpDraft Plus, etc.

    Is there a way to reduce the options Aquila places on my admin bar?

    If not, can you consider this as a modification for Aquila in the future?

    Thanks in advance and keep on keepin’ on!

    Hi Neal,

    Thanks for you kind words about the plugin.

    Regarding your question:

    But Aquila also crowds the admin bar with options I do not need: plugin updates, comments, Analytify, UpDraft Plus, etc.

    Aquila doesn’t actually add any links to the admin bar, and you’ll find those links on the admin bar even without Aquila installed. I do have another plugin which can hide admin bar links for Editors, but not for all users: Editor Menu and Widget Access .

    I’ll add this feature to the list of potential updates and, if possible, it’ll be added to a new release shortly.

    Here’s a better way to say it: When Aquila is activated, the space for the logo in the upper left pushes all the options to the right. When I go into Editor to work, both UpDraftPlus and the Top Secondary/User Actions options drop down off the Admin Bar and into the work area.

    I have installed Editor Menu and Widget Access, selected those options that I don’t want in the Admin Bar, but nothing happens.

    Thanks for clarifying, I understand now. Yes, the other plugin is only for the “Editor” user role, not for admins.

    I’ll try to include this feature in the next release of Aquila.

    That’s what I thought.

    Is there any way at this time to eliminate the logo spot in the Admin Bar in Aquila and let the other options slide over to the left? That would take care of all my problems.

    Actually yes, if you’ve got access to your theme’s functions.php file, you can add the following:

    function aquila_remove_logo( $wp_admin_bar ) {
        $wp_admin_bar->remove_node( 'wp-logo' );
    add_action( 'admin_bar_menu', 'aquila_remove_logo', 999 );

    I don’t go into the Dark Underbelly of my sites, so I added the code to the Code Snippets plugin (Version 2.13.2 by Shea Bunge) and when activated it gave me a Fatal Error message:

    The code snippet you are trying to save produced a fatal error on line 2:

    syntax error, unexpected ‘&’

    That’s odd, there isn’t an ampersand character in my code so I’m not sure where that error came from.

    Could you try copying the code from here: PasteBin .
