Should I use multisite for my site structure?

I have a structure question.

I am not going to try an get to down in the weeds but here is what I want and am not sure if multisite is the answer or if there is a better way? And plus I am new to wordpress design so please be patient with me.

I have a site that I am developing and want to mirror the structure of another news site like mine. http://www.theblaze.com is the site that has the structure I want to be like.

My DEV Site is http://www.theokieblaze.com/okblaze

Here is what I see they have on the front page they have post with the url of http://www.theblaze.com/stories/YEAR/MONTH/DATE/TITLE. Then they still use the url of http://www.theblaze.com/blog/YEAR/MONTH/DATE/TITLE for their journalist to still blog and have that linked at the top and sidebar widgets.

Question is are they using a multisite to do this or another way? If they are not using a multisite then how? and if they are using a multisite how have they set it up so that the blog is not the primary that shows up under the main domain?
