Should I use Gzip Compressionto speed up my website?

    My website is a forum, each page takes about 3 seconds to load.
    I would like to improve the loading time as 3 seconds is too long for a forum.

    I searched for some methods in the Internet and some people said that Gzip compression can make the website faster.

    Should I use Gzip Compression for my website?
    Will it boost my website speed?

    Is there any drawbacks of it?
    Because if not, all WP users will be using it?
