 * We’ll, I’ve searched all over for the error I’m having with my wordpress installation.
   A 10 second initial load delay. I load the website once, waiting 10 seconds about,
   then for the next 5 times I load the page it is fast. Then once again, a slow
   load. ([http://www.funkystudios.co.cc](http://www.funkystudios.co.cc)) I noticed
   that it is only WordPress too. I installed Drupal ([http://www.funkystudios.co.cc/drupal](http://www.funkystudios.co.cc/drupal)),
   and it seems to work just fine, with no slow initial load. Help? Please!! I’m
   considering making the Drupal switch….
 * One extra comment: When I type in my domain for the first time in a while, (when
   I know I’m going to get a slow load) and click refresh immediately after clicking“
   go” on my browser, it loads without the delay. weird…

 * Have you tried:
 * – deactivating **all** plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works,
   re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
 * – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause
   problems.

 * Deactivating, yes.
    Twenty-Ten Theme, yes. Resetting… I’ll try it right now…

 * Resetting has not solved the problem either… Thanks for the suggestions though!
 * Any others?

 * It could be a server issue. Do you have access to your server’s error logs?

 * Yep! I actually run the website from my home server. Any specific thing I should
   be looking for inside it? If I am looking right, I don’t see any errors when
   I load it up with the 10 second delay…

 * It sounds like it might be a slow MySQL server response. Have you tried repairing
   your database?

 * Yes indeed.. Repairing, as in using PhpMyAdmin, selecting all the tables and
   choosing “Repair”. Then yes… As you can see I’ve tried many, many, many suggestions.
   None working though. Any others though? Thanks!

 * It could be a DNS issue.

 * Well.. Maybe? I have two addresses actually. I made [http://www.funkystudios.com](http://www.funkystudios.com)
   first. I made [http://www.funkystudios.co.cc](http://www.funkystudios.co.cc)
   after that to see if it would help. No change….

 * Anyways, DNS wouldn’t explain why basic HTML pages are fast, while wordpress
   is slow…. I installed Drupal, and it is fast also… What could it be????

 * My pings all time out and the final hops to your front door with tracert all
   time out, so I’m assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that you are filtering icmp traffic.
   Any thoughts on whether allowing icmp traffic through to run some network tools
   may or may not be of any benefit? Maybe some weird relationship issues between
   icmp and mtu? Hard to imagine it only affecting WordPress, though. Just one more
   thing to look at or experiment with I suppose, but I’m strictly guessing, mind
   you. 🙂
 * Also of note: everything except the front page at funkystudios.com is returning
   a 404. – permalink issue?

 * Thanks for the help! I look into it using tracert and other testing tricks. That
   is the weirdest part though, it only affects wordpress. Also, yes the 404 error
   was a permalink issue.
