• I have an off-shoot magazine which will appear differently to the main wordpress website. I’m planning to use IssueM and I think it will need its own theme.

What is my best option for running this magazine from within the same domain name where I can style the magazine differently to the rest of the website? Are we talking two different wordpress installations? What’s the best approach?

    Thanks in advance.

  • The things to think about are:

    1. Do you need to share users? Like are subscirbers, authros and editors going to be the same for both sites, or do you want them separated?
    2. Do you want to manage a single installation where any updates can be applied all at once, or multiple installations where updates need to be done individually for each site?

Honesly the first point is the biggest one. If you want to share uses it’s a very very good idea to run a multisite network. As it’s an off-shoot magazine, there’s obviosuly some corelation between the two sites, so sharing users sounds like something that would be a good thing.

Thank you for your response. Yes, authors will be shared across the two websites since contributors from the main site will be authors of the magazine.

I assume I can use the same posts in the different installation, providing they are calling the same database entries?
