 * Posted here a few days back and seemingly got nowhere- been doing a lot of research
   and likewise, nowhere.
 * Im looking at attempting a reinstall, but i obviously dont want to lose my site.
 * Ive backed up the whole lot through ftp, and ive that in a folder on my desktop.
 * I presume I just go ahead ahead and delete everything in the root folder. Reinstall
the wp I had it on before.. but then im confused as to how much stuff the Database
file holds (which i dont plan on changing)?
 * I know it holds posts, but beyond that? does it hold all page info? widget info
   etc?

 * You don’t want to delete wp-content/uploads or make a copy of it. That is where
any actual images you have are uploaded.
 * > I know it holds posts, but beyond that? does it hold all page info? widget
   > info etc?
 * Normally it would but that may be theme dependent. Why are you doing a reinstall?

 * Nightmare scenario with a white screen of death..
 * ive tried numerous things, from php files and blank spaces to reinstalling the
   theme.
 * basically i can get into admin, but once i hit activate on an installed theme,
   i get the blank screen.
 * this doesnt happen with other themes, as i can install away, but once i switch
back to suffusion, its gone again.
 * another interesting one- i renamed the plugins folder. then went back on it.
i had to activate all of my existing plugins, which worked fine, but once i installed
a new one and hit activate… gone again.
 * I done a debug, which i can post if that is of any use?

 * So it is a problem with the theme. I added suffusion as a key word so maybe the
theme developer will respond. If it is a theme problem reinstalling won’t help.
Check your database tables. You can “check all” at one time with myphpadmin.

 * I did a check all there and “check table”- all returned okay?
 * im assuming the theme cant have the problem of not being able to install plugins-
especially one as widely used as suffusion?

 * Have you tried:
    – deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves
the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find
the problematic plugin(s). If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting
the plugins folder by FTP or your hosting site’s file manager. Sometimes, an
apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems. – switching to the Twenty
Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
 * Some more info. [http://wordpress.org/support/topic/white-screen-of-death-23?replies=28](http://wordpress.org/support/topic/white-screen-of-death-23?replies=28)
 * > im assuming the theme cant have the problem of not being able to install plugins-
 * You reset the plugins to rule out a faulty one.

 * Im just working through that now.
 * Once they were all deactivated- i was able to install the one i wanted.
 * Ive read about increasing PHP memory- that seems like a viable solution, but
where exactly do I add the code to?
 * Ive looked in wp-config, and the existing code isnt there?

 * Try turning on debugging. That should turn your blank screen into a list of errors.

 * Yeah, ive run a debug and gotten the following :

 * Rename your plugin folder plugins old. Can you run Suffusion?

 * Alright, it seems as though its not any plugin in particular, but once i get
to a certain number, maybe 5,6,7.. thats when it goes.
 * Looks to me like a memory thing?

 * kmessinger: yeah, Suffusion runs sans plugin.
 * Could me previous post be correct? Would suffusion + those plugins be a heavier
burden on the system than twentyten plus the same ones?

 * Plugins fixedly and flexo-archives are causing problems. Renaming the plugin
   folder will turn them off.

 * I am pretty sure it is a bad plugin or combination of plugins that causes the
problem. What you describe is a javascript conflict not a memory problem. You
can try to contact the plugins author or hopefully find another plugin to do
   the same thing.

 * When i looked at the debug i partly guessed that- so i went disabling them all
   as you said earlier.
 * Despite this, with those two enabled- i could still install new ones freely and
uninterrupted, which doesnt seem the root cause of the problem then to me?

 * Are you running the latest stable version of WordPress (3.4.2?)
 * Your theme, Suffusion could be causing conflicts with a plugin(s). Maybe some
of your plugins are really old, causing conflicts with WP and you should look
for newer ones. Or your database is corrupt.
 * If you say that Twenty Eleven or Twenty Ten works with all the plugins okay then
there is some conflict with your theme, Suffusion. If you’re still having problems
then it’s a plugin or a combo of plugins or your database.
 * Have you tried asking at [http://aquoid.com/forum/](http://aquoid.com/forum/)?
 * Another suggestion is, if you are running WordPress 3.4.2, upload all the core
files that come with it to your server. Just overwrite the files that are already
there. There is no reason to use ones you backed up because you shouldn’t change
   any core files anyways.
 * Also try re-uploading all plugins fresh, again overwrite the ones on the server
   now.
 * You asked what was stored in your database. Think of it this way, anything you
type, click on, save, edit, or create in the Dashboard is saved to the database.
With the exception of uploading a file, that, of course, gets saved on the server.
The database contains data in text form with all your settings, post text, which
widget is active or not, your usernames, passwords, etc.
 * Hope that helps.
