It’s up to you what way you prefer to connect the modules within Site Kit. If you’re only looking to add Google Analytics to your site and not any other features via Google Tag Manager then you only need to connect the Google Analytics module within Site Kit.
If you connect Tag Manager only note that you won’t see any Google Analytics data within the Site Kit dashboards, even if you do have a Google Analytics snippet places via Site Kit. In order to view Google Analytics data within Site Kit you need to connect the associated Google Analytics module.

I have the same question.
If we have GTM connected then it will show gtm script in the code correct?
But if I have both GTM and Analytics connected then will it also show both scripts in the code or just the gtm script?
I normally connect analytics via the GTM not directly. So if using sitekit then does it only show analytics data in the dashboard or will also add analytics script separately along with the gtm?

If you have Google Tag Manage connected you will see this GTM snippet placed when checking your sites source code.
If you then connect the Google Analytics module within Site Kit the plugin will look for an existing Google Analytics setup. If you don’t have a Google Analytics tag setup within your connected GTM account then the plugin can insert a Google Analytics snippet on your site.
If you do have a Google Analytics tag added via GTM then the plugin can use this to display Analytics data within the Site Kit dashboards, without placing it’s own Google Analytics snippet.
