 * I want to make a static page, no blog, just info that changes weekly.
    Is WordPress
   going to work, or should I be using something else. It seems that it is geared
   more toward blogging, but Hostmonster recommended it. Any thoughts?
 * Thanks

 * Hi newbie44, yes WordPress is used extensively by bloggers, but it isn’t limited
   to just blogs. Many people, myself included, use WordPress as a content management
   system or CMS for many different types of websites.
 * If you need to change your website often, a tool like WordPress can be very helpful.
 * I would highly recommend taking WordPress for a spin, it is very user friendly
   and able to fill many roles.
 * The big thing to understand with WordPress, specially as a CMS, is the difference
   between [Posts](http://codex.wordpress.org/Introduction_to_Blogging) and [Pages](http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages).
   Posts are smaller articles, the blog entries, and these are archives and organized
   chronologically.
 * And Pages static content that doesn’t generally move or change very often. For
   a standard website, you may use more Pages, or only Pages, and WordPress can
   be used just fine.
 * Though the Posts are very helpful too, I have built many business or non-profit
   websites without blogs that use the Posts as news entries.
 * Best of luck 44!

 * jleuze,
    Thank you very much for the info. The web site I am attempting to build
   is a small business site for my wife and she wants a certain look to it and NO
   BLOG on it at all so I was concerned about even trying WordPress.
 * I am wondering if any sites you or anyone else out there have built are public
   sites, that I might take a look at for examples of non-blog sites, to show my
   wife.
 * Thanks again for the help,
    newbie44

 * You can check out the WordPress.org [Showcase page](http://wordpress.org/showcase/)
   for many examples of non-blog sites.

 * Personally, I like WordPress more than any other platform. It is user friendly.
   Although I am one for the free stuff, like using Blogger’s platform at first,
   I’ve got to say that buying my own domain and hosting using WordPress’s platform
   was the smartest move I have made. The plugins are of great help.
