Shortcodes overhead

    Hi:

    What is the overhead for shortcodes? For example if I were to install shortcodes ultimate plus another shortcodes package, what is the performance penalty? Does the number of shortcodes installed make that big a difference or is it the number of shortcodes that is used on a page that matters more?

    The number of available shortcodes doesn’t have a real impact on performance, but installing multiple plugins will (somewhat regardless of function).

    If you have a LOT of shortcodes on a single page, yes, it can impact performance to a degree, but there are other things that are likely impacting your site’s speed even more.

    I regularly use 4-5 shortcodes on a page with no real noticeable slowdowns, but as always, your mileage may vary.
