# Shortcodes not working

 * I just installed The Events Calendar on to my site, which is using the Bento 
   theme ([http://satoristudio.net/bento-free-wordpress-theme/](http://satoristudio.net/bento-free-wordpress-theme/)).

 * I’m trying to use the shortcodes, and single event embed functionality on the
   site, but it doesn’t seem to be working.
    I’ve tried using the shortcode in a
   post and in a text widget – no love. Additionally, copying the URL of the event
   into the text widget just displays the URL text, rather than embedding the event
   details.
 * Any tips on what I’m doing wrong? (I’m certain it’s my error – I just can’t figure
   out what I’ve messed up…)
 * Also, is there a way to get the ‘upcoming events’ list to display thumbnail images?

 * What shortcodes are you trying to use? The Events Calendar doesn’t include any
   out of the box, so that might be where some of the confusion is. Let m know and
   I’d be happy to take a look.
