• Hi guys,

Ok, so I’ve been using the Visual Composer’s built in call to action for my site and suddenly now after switching themes it’s gone from the VC screen. No idea why or where.

In the meantime whilst I get in touch with WPBakery about the issue I was wondering if anyone knows of any good free plugins that offer a good call to action type button / shortcode?

Premium alternatives are also worth a look. Ideas are greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

  • Hi,

I don’t know of any plugins off the top of my head, but if you search the repository I’m sure there’s something. Also, with shortcodes, whether or not you can use them depends on whether or not they’re either baked into a plugin or theme. If you’ve switched themes, and the shortcodes you are depending on are theme specific, (E.G., they’re written into the theme itself via functions.php), you’ll need to either manually re-add them to your current theme via functions.php, (not the best approach), or find/write a plugin that provides the same functionality. Best practice is to bake features like that into a plugin and not to make them theme-specific, because when the theme is switched, (and they always are eventually), features like these get lost.

    Thanks Amanda,

I change themes like the weather during development, but this call to action I thought was part of the Visual Composer. Strangely enough I lost it switching from my first theme, but have since returned to that first theme and the call to action is gone?

Great suggestions though – definitely better practice!
