[table id=3 /] shortcode won´t show table in post.

basic task: can´t get the table to show in a post.

Also, is there a comprehensive list of shortcode examples to follow?

    Hi,

    thanks for your question.

What are you getting instead of the table when using this Shortcode?
Can you post the URL to the page where this is happening?

Does this happen with the WordPress Default Theme (TwentyTen)?

The Shortcode and its parameters are documented here: http://tobias.baethge.com/wordpress-plugins/wp-table-reloaded-english/documentation/

    Regards,
    Tobias

Tobias, thank you for the prompt reply.

What are you getting instead of the table when using this Shortcode?
I get [table id=3 /] in visual mode - no table visible.

Can you post the URL to the page where this is happening?
    No, not at the moment.

Does this happen with the WordPress Default Theme (TwentyTen)?
Will try that. I´m using a customization of justin tadlock´s hybrid theme, but that shouldn´t be a problem.

Thanks for the link to documentation - will study and see what can find.

    Hi,

I'm a little confused by this:
"I get [table id=3 /] in visual mode - no table visible."

That's the expected behavior actually. You will not see the table in any of the editors, but only when you view the resulting post/page in the browser, i.e. by clicking "Preview" or "Publish".

    Regards,
    Tobias

    My mistake. [table=3] works.
    [table id=3 /] doesn´t of course.

    Hi,

[table=3] is the Shortcode of the old plugin wp-Table!
I suggest that you switch to WP-Table Reloaded, which has more features and supports the current versions of WordPress.

    Tobias

    Hi there,

I'm affected by this behavior too.

I created a table and added table id=1 /] to my post.
But the shortcode will be only replaced by <div class="su-table su-table-style-1"></div>.
So, I think, that the content is missing somewhere, because the shortcode-replacement is still working.
    [table=1] isn't working neither.

    EDIT: Theme-changes won't fix it.

    Hi,

this likely means that there is a different plugin installed, that also has register the [table] Shortcode. Do you have something like "su-table" installed?

    Tobias

    Shame on me,
i've registered another plugin called "Shortcodes Ultimate".
It has an option to enable a compatiblity mode which is using [gn_table] instead of [table].

But anyway, such a compatibility mode could be a interesting feature for your plugin.

    Hi Patrik,

good that you found the plugin! :-)

There is a compatibility mode in WP-Table Reloaded, but it is hidden behind a plugin filter hook. Through that method, one can change the Shortcode to whatever they want. For an example on how this works, please take a look at http://tobias.baethge.com/2010/01/extension-3-changing-the-table-shortcode/.
I do not see a need for a UI for this, as this will rarely happen.

    Regards,
    Tobias
