# Shortcode Not Working in Text Widget

 * Hello I am using a shortcode in a text widget but it does not work. All I see
   is the shortcode, for example [content_block id=399].
 * The content block widget does work, but I need to use the shortcode in a text
   widget.
 * I am on WordPress 4.8.2, Genesis Child Theme, Edit Author Slug plugin and Askimet
   plugin (disabled).
 * Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

 * Hi kmbee,
 * Unfortunately the default WordPress text widget does not support using shortcodes
   and therefore the content block shortcode is not working.
 * This is an issue with the text widget and not with the Content Blocks plugin,
   I can therefore not provide a fix for this.

 * Thank you for the response Johan, I have resolved the issue by enabling shortcodes
   in functions.php. Cheers.
