# Shortcode not working in custom template

 * Hello.
 * I’m currently building a website using wordpress. I’m trying to show on a page
   only the posts of a certain category which has the ID=5. I’m using the Evolve
   theme and the page is set on a custom blog template that it is included in the
   theme pack.
 * I tried to accomplish the showing of those posts by using this [plugin](https://wordpress.org/plugins/list-category-posts/).
 * I used the shortcode `[catlist id=5]` in the page editor, but it doesn’t do any
   change whatsoever to the content that’s shown on the page.
 * The custom template is:
 *     ```

 * I’ve researched and I’ve seen that not having the function `the_content();` called
   in the template disables the usage of shortcodes. I tried to work it around, 
   but I couldn’t get it done whatsoever.
 * Is there any solution to this matter?

 * Modified in the content-blog.php the creation of the query from
    `$wp_query =
   new WP_Query();` to `$wp_query = new WP_Query("cat=5");`, didn’t work. Then I
   tried with `$wp_query = new WP_Query( array( 'cat' => 5 ) );`. Didn’t work, too.
   Any ideas?
