Shortcode for Set-Password-Url
-
Hey,
we created a template for following notification: “New User Registration – For User”.
Is is possible to paste a shortcode for a set-password-link or a reset-password link?
We tried following, but nothing work:
[password_reset_link]
[password_url]Thanks for your answer, and Best Regards.

Hi @vait1998,
Thanks for your message. When you say the shortcodes you’ve tried don’t work, can you clarify what you mean? Are they not outputting a link or is the link they are outputting incorrect? Does an email send at all?
For reference, the shortcodes you can use for this notification can be found here: https://betternotificationsforwp.com/documentation/notifications/shortcodes/?notification=new-user
Hi @voltronik
thanks for your fast answer. The shortcodes are not outputting a link.
Today I tried again [password_url] and [password], but no output.
The shortcode [login_url] is outputting the right link. And the email would be send.Best Regards
Hi @vait1998,
Thanks for clarifying. How are new users registering? Is it via the WP Admin, the default WordPress login/registration form, or a front-end form added by a plugin?
Hi @voltronik
at the moment (for testing) the users are registered in the WP Admin.
In future, the users will be registered over API from our prestashop, too.
Best Regards
Hi @vait1998,
Ok, thanks. As I can’t seem to replicate it, it sounds like a potential plugin or theme conflict to me.
Please can you make your way through this document and let me know how you get on?

Hi @voltronik
Sorry for late reply. Now I tested some conflicts. I deactivated all plugins, but the problem still occurs. The shortcodes don’t output a link.
I tried your plugin on another page and here the same problem. And I tried it on a blank new wordpress installation with the same problems.
Could you test this again, please? Thanks and Best Regards, Fabian
HI @vait1998,
I’ve just re-tested on both a brand new installation and two old ones and it’s working as expected for me – using the[password_url]
shortcode on the ‘New User Registration – For User’ notification outputs the password link correctly. All installations are using the latest versions of BNFW, WordPress, and PHP 7.4.As I’ve had no other reports of this and it appears to be working in my testing, I believe it to be a plugin or theme conflict somewhere on yor site. It could also be a hosting issue but it’s unlikely and I’d have no way to test this.
Other than the suggestions above, I’m not sure how else I can offer help.
Is there anything you can think of that might be causing an issue?Hi @voltronik
thanks for your fast reply. That’s really weird.
I installed a blank new wordpress installation here: test.web-dome.de
with just your plugin. And the shortcode doesn’t work.Could you check it here please?
Lot of thanks.

Hi @vait1998,
I can’t provide a level of free support where I log into your site unfortuantely.
You may also wish to edit your reply as WP.org will remove or redact part of your reply with the login information.Hi @voltronik
do you have any idea where the problem could be or how you could help me?
Now I noticed that I used following message: “New User – Post registration Email”.Could you check it with this, again?
Hi @vait1998,
The notification you need to use is the ‘New User Registration – For User’ notification. Any other notification won’t be able to disaply the[password_url]
shortcode.Hi @voltronik
Thanks, but unfortunately with the “New User Registration – For User” no email was sent…
Is there any possibility to get the [password_url] work in the “New User – Post registration Email” – Notification?
Your plugin is very good, but we need this function
Best Regards
Hi @vait1998,
The password reset URL is only available at the time the user is rgistered and not after so WordPress make it impossible to be able to get this at any other time.If that notification isn’t triggering, then something is definitely broken on your setup. How are you user’s registering? Is it via the default WP registration form, a front-end form, or another method?
Hi @voltronik
thanks. We get the link working now.
But one bug still exists. We create a lot of user over API (from our webshop). If the user was created manually the password reset link works fine. But if the user was created over API the password reset link doesn’t work. WordPress displays the error, the link would not be valid.
Could you check this behaviour please?
