# Shortcode – excluding categories

 * Hello, I’m trying to use the shortcode on a page, and make it exclude categories
   so that it’s only pulling posts from a specific subset of posts. I can’t seem
   to get it to work no matter what I try, including these variations:
 * [crp limit=”6″ heading=”0″ cache=”0″ exclude_categories=”advice, inspiration”]
   [
   crp limit=”6″ heading=”0″ cache=”0″ exclude_categories=”54, 63″] [crp limit=”
   6″ heading=”0″ cache=”0″ exclude_cat_slugs=”advice, inspiration”]
 * Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem?

 * With the current version, you will need to add this to your Related Posts Settings
   page.
 * Are you doing this on a post by post basis with different categories?
 * I’ll add this as one of the things to add to the plugin in the next version to
   bring back this functionality. In previous versions, this was a result of a massive
   performance issue because it needed an unnecessary extra queries for those not
   using this feature.

 * Actually I’m trying to make it so that on one specific static page, it shows 
   a set of specific related posts. So I added a bunch of posts to a new category,
   and then tried to exclude all the other categories. I guess there’s no way to
   do that in the current version? It would be great if it was possible to specify
   a category in the shortcode to only show related posts from that category.

 * Include categories is on the charts, but in a paid addon.
 * From what you mentioned above, you could potentially add the related posts using
   the Manual Posts in the meta box in your page.
