    Is there documentation available, or a guide that I can use to construct a shortcode for insertion into a template file?

    Is there a way to access the “shortcode maker” outside of a post/page editing screen?

    Hi.

    No, unfortunately, there is no documentation for shortcode structure. And this documentation will not be added since we added support for Gutenberg (new page editor in future WordPress 5.0).
