Support » Plugin: Popup Maker - Popup Forms, Optins & More » Shortcode button not functioning on custom post type

    I use the Maranatha theme from ChurchThemes.com for a church website.
    https://churchthemes.com/themes/maranatha/

    It has some custom post type pages for sermons and such. I use Popup Maker on the sermons page to popup up the scripture pertinent to the sermon. Before the updates to the 1.7.x versions, the shortcode button worked on the sermon pages the same as on a regular page. Since that update, the shortcode button appears on the sermons page but doesn’t show the two options when clicked. Would you know why the button is not functioning on a custom post page now when it did before 1.7?

    Thank you!

    @banditrvp – Do you have a link?

    Website:
    http://plymouthucc.church/

    Or are you looking for the WP login to the admin side?

    The problem is with the shortcode tool icon itself on the editor toolbar on the admin end of things. It works fine on a standard WP page but not on custom post type pages. On a standard WP page, if I click the shortcode tool icon, I see the drop-down with options for Popup Trigger and Subscription Form. When I click the shortcode tool icon on a custom post type page, I only see a slit of an empty dropdown.

    I don’t know if this is a clue but before the change to 1.7, when I used the shortcode button to place a link or button on a page, I saw the link or button on the visual tab of the editor. Since the version update, I see markup on the visual tab when looking at pages where shortcodes were previously placed. Like this:

    [popup_trigger id=”2559″ tag=”button”]Psalm 8, Job 12:7-10[/popup_trigger]

    Popups already in place still look and work fine on the website but look as described in the editor on the admin side.

    @banditrvp – Ahh, I know right where to look. That said I may have to take a bit of time to get the solution right. We need to either decide to enable it automatically for all public post types or add an option in the admin to allow you to choose which post types its on for.

    Likely the first, though not sure if that will add future issues or not.

    Look for a fix later tonight in v1.7.10

    I can copy and update the markup for [popup_trigger id=”####″ tag=”button”]xxxxxx[/popup_trigger] on new pages but the tool button is handy. I don’t have a preference for whether the user chooses post types or have them apply to all. Either way works for me.

    Thank you!

    Feedback item: I updated to version 1.7.11 a short time ago. Still no luck with the shortcode tool icon on the editor screen on custom post type pages. When I click it, I still only see a slit of an empty dropdown with no options.

    @banditrvp – Haven’t forgotten about it, but its low on the immediate list of priorities, mainly trying to get bugs and edge cases cleaned up first, then we will work on adding new options.
