Short text per post in post-feed does not work?

    Under Settings>read
    there is an option to tick in if a posts full text should be shown or only a portion of it.

    So in the post flow i only want short parts of each posts to be displayed… not everything since some posts are very very long.

    This option does not fix this.
    I have tried with different themes, but nothing happens when changing this option.
