 * Hi
 * Does anyone have a list of the different shortcodes that can be used for the
   Titles and Meta Descriptions and Tags etc in the Meta Description Editor?
 * I want to use certain parts of the post, excerpt and tags to auto update the
   SEO components of the page.
 * Thanks in advance
    Jon

 * You can change the shortcodes in “Default Formats” section only.
 * Currently the “Meta Description” field in other sections, like in Posts, tags
   or pages are working as content on Meta Description Property, so i think for
   now any shortcodes can’t work properly.
 * Instead of shortcodes in “Meta Description” field, Using any sentence under 120
   to 140 characters will be work properly.

 * [@attrition](https://wordpress.org/support/users/attrition/):
 * If you are asking about the plugin autogenerating a meta description ( [http://screencast.com/t/xvtbnZS3](http://screencast.com/t/xvtbnZS3))
   in the Meta Description Editor you can use:
 * {excerpt::autogen} uses an excerpt if there is one; if there isn’t, it autogenerates
   one.
 * {excerpt} uses an excerpt if there is one; if there isn’t, it returns nothing.
 * There is no feature for this for meta title as Google already will supplement
   meta title if none are provided.
 * Hope this helps.
 * Best,
 * Jeffrey
