Support » Theme: GamePress » Short Code Nivo Slider

  • Resolved pchin

    I followed the instructions to get the nivo slider working on the front page of the site but nothing shows up on my home page. Just to test it, I created a new category called “Featured” and created only one post under this category with a featured image set. I then went to the theme options and made sure that the slider only displayed the post from this “Featured” category.

    Is there some sort of short code that I could easily paste onto my homepage to get this working? I’ve seen other nice looking websites using this theme that have very functional sliders on their front page, and I’d love to have this as well. Thank you!

  • HI

    For the nivo slider ,

    you cna use this shortcode
    <?php if ( function_exists(‘show_nivo_slider’) ) { show_nivo_slider(); } ?>
    Paste this php code in your theme home page.

    Could you post a link to your website? Does it work when you select to display newest posts in slider?

    Hi alex27,
    My website is I’d really appreciate any help you can give me on this! Also, tried using the game review categories and regular categories for this (which didn’t work) and then tried removing all of my posts under the regular categories and just worked different game categories (didn’t work) and vice-versa (didn’t work).

    I tried selecting newest posts but it doesn’t work. Also, to p5systems, I’m a newbie when it comes to coding, but what is the name of the php file where I place the code you gave me? And what line within the code do I place those lines? I tried pasting your shortcode into the text box of my home page but it gave me nothing.

    OK, to alex27 and p5systems, I checked the page.php code and inserted the if statement that p5 systems gave me, and it didn’t work. When I went back to the editor under Appearances and tried to search for the word “show” (for the “show nivo slider” function), it never revealed in the code that that particular function even exists (which might explain why it doesn’t work?) Is there some sort of bug? Possibly a simple fix to add this function?

    The way the theme works (at least for now) slider is meant to be displayed when home page displays newest posts, not static page (which is your case). I’m sorry, but I can’t give you solution at the moment, maybe you could use some slider plugin?

    ok thank you
