    WordPress version: 3.9.1
    WP eCommerce version: 3.8.14.1
    Gold Cart version: N/A
    Theme: Twenty Fourteen
    url: hartleys.vdgwebsites.nl

I have a table rate shipping scheme:
0 euro and above: shipping euro 7,50
50 euro and above: shipping euro 5,00

    No other shipping schemes present.

After ordering a product the checkout page shows the Total Price and the Total Shipping. Total Shipping is zero euro (0).
Below the product listing is a sentence ‘Please specify shipping location below to calculate your shipping costs’ and a Calculate button.
But there is no shipping location, shipping is based on total order price. Nevertheless, I first have to click this Calculate button, then a table appears with headertext ‘Table Rate – Choose a Shipping Rate ‘ and with text in first record ‘Table Rate euro 7,50’ and a radio button.

Only after selecting this radio button the shipping cost is added to the Total Price. And only then you are able to send your order form.
This happens only when ordering the first time. Ordering for a second time shipping is automatically added to total order price ok.
This behavior started after upgrading to wpec version 3.8.14 and is annoying for first time customers.

Is it possible to have the shipping costs automatically added to the total order price also the first time, without having to manually
‘calculate’ the additional shipping costs? Or is this ‘by design’?

    Thanks for your time

  • Hi …

This report describes the behaviour I am also have difficulty with and documented in post entitled “Removing radio buttons for Single Shipping Method”

I did a fresh local install of latest versions WordPress and wpec. No other plugins installed, theme used Twenty Eleven.

    Result: same behaviour as before.

Only way to have the desired behaviour (automatic shipping calculation) back seems to be to roll back to earlier version of wpec.

    Or am i overlooking something?

I just upgraded someones wordpress site now the shopping cart is all messed up and I get the error with the calculator…but worse, I can not click on add to cart now! My friend paid for the gold cart, but does not have the info to proove it…. http://www.legendperformance.com/products-page-2/2stroke/zx-2r/

I un upgraded the site, and the issue remains. HELP PLEASE!

    @violablu,
I checked your site, but yours is a different problem. Please start your own thread. Thanks.

Anybody there who can answer the original question?

This is the current expected behavior. It is a known limitation of the old theme engine.

This will be changing in an upcoming release although I am unsure when that will specifically be.

It might be possible to hack the results but I don’t suggest doing this as it may cause unforeseen trouble.

Something you might try would be selecting it automatically using javascript. This would not break the core plugin.

You would still need to click the calculate button but at least the fee could be auto selected. I’m not sure off hand how this can be done but at least it’s a possible suggestion.

I’ll do a search to see if anyone has tried doing this and link it if I find anything.

@violablu Martien66 is correct it would be best to open your own topic. You might want to roll back whatever you upgraded. This would provide the quickest way back to a functioning site. If you know the versions you previously had installed you can download them and reinstall. Even better if you had a backup just restore using it.

    Regards

Hi Edward, thanks for your reply.

I appreciate you’re effort to do a search for a workaround!
