Shipping destination selection

    My customer delivers product themselves after customer places order via Woocommerce store.

    Deliveries are only to one city. The shipping price varies from neighborhood to neighborhood. What we want is a solution that will enable us to assign shipping rates to different custom neighborhoods. The customer should select their neighborhood using a drop-down menu (we created) when calculating shipping.

    Can somebody help recommend a solution?

    Hi @ziso,

    I’m not aware of a neighbourhood shipping plugin which I could recommend that would provide a dropdown of neighbourhoods which a customer could select

    One possible alternative solution you could investigate however is a plugin called WooCommerce Distance Rate Shipping. This extension allows you to easily offer shipping rates based on the distance or total travel time to your customer.

    The main issue here is simplifying shipment calculation for the customers. It would be much easier for them to just specify their neighborhoods and have the corresponding shipping price displayed instantly than to use distances because some of them might not even know how far away from us they are. Drop is not necessary but would be a bonus.

    Remember I am in a place that is literally unknown by the internet so I will have to specify all shipping zone (neighborhoods in my case)

    I’m not personally aware of a shipping plugin which could offer the exact functionality which you’ve described. I’ll leave this forum topic open for you though in case one of the WooCommerce community members knows of such a plugin which you could use.

    I found a store in the same city that my client is operating and they are using exactly the same method I want to but they won’t let me know which plugins they are using :).

    Based on the site you’ve given, kindly check if this is the plugin you’re looking for: https://woocommerce.com/products/store-finder-for-woocommerce/

    However, as for calculating shipping rates based on the distance from the customer and the store, you’d be best placed using the Distance Rate Shipping extension shared earlier. Alternatively, you can consider manually setting up different shipping costs via shipping zones + shipping methods in WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping > Shipping Zones as explained in this documentation.

    I am mainly interested in the plugin that they (https://www.okonline.co.zw/) use to calculate shipping.

    Under the cart page you can calculate shipping using a drop-down menu which enables you to select your delivery neighborhood and have the corresponding shipping cost displayed instantaneously.

    This is exactly what I want. Which plugin can I use to achieve this?

    Hi @ziso,

    Just an update, after checking the site, I’m quite unable to ascertain the referred plugin. However, the checkout seems comparable to what you would get by default say if you were using WooCommerce+Storefront theme after configuring shipping zones, just that it’s been segmented into four steps.

    Nonetheless, I would advise that you search around from the WordPress plugins, as well as other marketplaces that offer plugins.

    Alternatively, you can get in touch with a developer or the WooCommerce Customizations Experts to build a custom solution for this.

    Since there have not been any other insights in the forum regarding this, I will go ahead and mark this thread as resolved.
