Hi, I’m using Woo and Stripe just as a payment gateway. I provide a negative and slide film scanning service.

I’m currently instructing customers to use the “Order notes (optional)” section to add their shipping address if that’s different from their billing address.

I don’t have a virtual/digital product that my customers will download, but I will have the need for my customers to tell me where to post/mail their original negatives and slides to.

Is this “Order notes” section the best route?

    Thanks,

    Frank

    Hi @frankbiganski,

Thanks for explaining how you’re using WooCommerce. I understand you’re offering a service that involves physical delivery, and you want to make sure customers can provide a different shipping address when needed.

Using the “Order notes” field works in a pinch, but if you’d like a more structured way for customers to enter a different shipping address, you can enable the standard WooCommerce “Ship to a different address?” checkbox. This will let customers enter both billing and shipping addresses during checkout, which might be more intuitive for your use case.

You can enable this by going to WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping and making sure shipping is enabled, even if you’re not charging shipping costs. Then head to WooCommerce > Settings > General, and under Shipping location(s), select “Ship to all countries you sell to” or “Ship to specific countries.” That should activate the shipping fields on your checkout page.

Let us know if you’d like help customizing those fields further or hiding shipping rates while still showing the address fields.

    Thanks LovingBro!

That’s what’s strange. I have all of those settings set correctly. I only ship within the United Kingdom and it’s a flat rate. But try placing something in the basket and checkout and you’ll only see “Billing”.

I had “Virtual” product checked/ticked. I unchecked that box and that corrected my problem.

    Cheers!

    Hi @frankbiganski,

Thank you for the follow-up, and I’m glad to hear that unchecking the “Virtual” option on your product resolved the issue. That makes perfect sense, as virtual products don’t require a shipping address, so WooCommerce hides those fields by default.

If you’ve been enjoying your experience with WooCommerce and found the support helpful, we’d love it if you could take a moment to leave a quick review: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce/reviews/#new-post
