    Hi,

is it possible to include Shibboleth registration in a future version of WP members?

Context for the request: all students at the university I’m working at get a login for the internal university course system. Other university webservices can use these information via Shibboleth to create new user accounts if the student decides to sign up for that service. I have found a shibboleth plugin in the repository repository, which I haven’t tested yet.

Because we are not only targeting university students I’d also need the “normal” registration process.

Is there anything like that planned for the future?

I’ll be honest and say that it’s unlikely. In the 11 years that I’ve offered this plugin, you’re the first person to request it, and unfortunately, there are a lot of other priorities that have a higher demand.

However, I looked briefly at the plugin you posted. That does appear promising, although you’d need to test it. WP-Members strives to be as integrated with WP’s native processes as possible. That includes authentication. If a user is recognized as logged in by WP (as would be the case when integrating a SSO), then WP-Members will recognize the authenticated user as logged in as well.

Also, for integrating with external systems, there are action hooks in the registration process that allow you to hook custom functions needed for integration (i.e. if you need to apply registration information to another outside system). The wpmem_post_register_data action fires after the user has been inserted.
