When you share a post on Facebook, or when Jetpack Publicize publishes a post to your Facebook page, Facebook crawls the page and looks for Open Graph meta tags in the head to build a complete post preview (with an image, title, description, …).
You can see what Facebook sees by entering one of your posts’ URLs in Facebook Debugger:
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debugJetpack includes such open graph meta tags, so you don’t actually need to use any other plugins. If you do use another plugin that adds Open graph meta tags to your site, or you have inserted these into your theme, Facebook might be confused by the duplicate tags and ignore them.
If you let me know your site URL here, I can check if your posts include the right tags.
If you want your site URL to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form:

@nhlabor I’m not familiar with all these plugins, but one of them is handling Open Graph Meta tags on your site. My guess would be Facebook, Facebook Page Promoter Lightbox Premium, or GetSocial. Try deactivating these plugins, one at a time, and check your posts’ source code to see if the open graph meta tags disappear.
Once you have found the plugin that is handling Open graph meta tags on your site, and if you still experience issues with your post previews on Facebook, you can contact the plugin author to let them know about the issue.
I am sure it is the facebook plugin. How do I check the open graph tags? I do not know what they are or how to find them
Hi Jeremy, I send you on the link to my website via the link you provided.
Could i add meta tags that would override the ones its picking up?
@nhlabor You can find the open graph meta tags by checking your site’s source code, like so:
http://i.wpne.ws/PVeL@kittykat12 I’ll check your site and reply to your email with some recommendations as soon as possible.
Thanks. In regards to the wrong image showing up, I think the AD-Rotate was inserting itself before the meta information. Would that cause the sidebar image to display instead of the post information?

Facebook Debugger should give you all the information you need. For example, when looking at this post, I see the following result in Facebook’s debugger:
og:image should be larger: Provided og:image is not big enough. Please use an image that’s at least 200×200 px. Image ‘http://nhlabornews.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Second-Wind-Foundation-Final-Copy–e1359120992626.jpg’ will be used instead.
Hi Jeremy,
I found this on google, http://www.staenzwebsolutions.com/avoid-no-thumbnail-or-unrelated-thumbnail-image-while-sharing-post-on-facebook/477/
i think it looks as tho it might work.. what do you think?
@kittykat12 Did someone reply to your email yet? I might have replied, but I don’t remember every email π
In any case, you shouldn’t have to use custom code to insert an image meta tag to your site. Jetpack already handles this for you, and will insert an image meta tag into the site’s head if you have inserted an image into your post that is large enough to be used by Facebook (at least 200px x 200px).
Jeremy,
Here is my problem. if you go to my FB page https://www.facebook.com/NHLaborNews You can see that the post “Shea-Porter Celebrates…..” did not populate the link preview correctly . The image is not there and the Title in the link preview is the link itself.
It seems that this is happening when posts are scheduled ahead of time. I looked at the source code and the image and all the correct information is in the META OG.
Thoughts?
@nhlabor: Facebook’s debugger still shows errors when entering the post URL. it could be why the image doesn’t appear on Facebook:

Thank you I contacted FB plugin creators
